Special Attraction

The Mount Maiji Grottoes
Mount Maiji is in Maiji District, 35 kilometers southeast of Tianshui City. Part of the Lesser Mount Longshan at the western end of the Qinling Range, it is a beautiful and mystic world of green woods, crimson crags, and swirling mists. Occupying the north slope of the Qilian Range, the watershed between northern and southern China, the Maijishan area has both the water landscape of the south and the masculine vastness of the north. In the summer rainy season, green hills appear and then vanish in the misty drizzle, like an earthly fairyland.
The Overhanging Great Wall
The impressive Overhanging Great Wall (Xuanbi changcheng), linking Jiayuguan with the Black Mountain (Hei shan), lies 8km northwest from the Jiayuguan Fort. This part of the Great Wall was first built in 1539 during the reign of the Ming Dynasty emperor, Jiajing. It was designed as an additional military defense for the fort. Walking along the stairs leading to the city walls, you will find that some parts are flat as plain, while others steep as a precipice. From the top of the Wall you may get a bird's eye view of the desert stretching before you, the oasis of Jiayuguan in the near ground, and the snow-capped mountains far away in the distance.
The Crescent Moon Lake
The Echoing-Sand Mountain has been accompanied by the Crescent Spring for hundreds of years. The sand of the mountain has many colors ranging from red to yellow, green, black and white. Its ridges and peaks are known to be as sharp as a knife. Stepping on the sand may change its shape temporarily, but the sand always returns its original shape the next day. Long in history and still to this day, the Crescent Spring and Echoing-Sand Mountain enjoy the title of "The Wonders of the Gobi Desert." Looking like a blue crescent moon enchasing in the desert, it gets the beautiful name "Crescent Spring." It is about 100 meters long and 25 meters wide, and has fish and water weeds that are said to be good for the health.
Mogao Grottoes
Situated at a strategic point along the Silk Road, at the crossroads of trade as well as religious, cultural and intellectual influences, the 492 cells and cave sanctuaries in Mogao Grottoes are famous for their statues and wall paintings, spanning 1,000 years of Buddhist art. The Mogao Grottoes contain priceless paintings, sculptures, some 50,000 Buddhist scriptures, historical documents, textiles, and other relics that first stunned the world in the early 1900s.
Yellow River Iron Bridge
Yellow River Iron Bridge, which is 233.5-meter-long and 8.36-meter-wide, was built from 1907 to 1909. It is located near the the White Pagoda Hill. As the first real bridge and the bridge with longest history striding above the Yellow River in Lanzhou, it was originally named Yellow River Bridge. To commemorate the great Chinese democratic revolutionist Sun Zhongshan (also named Sun Yat-sen), the bridge was renamed Zhongshan Bridge by Sun's given name in 1942.
Karez Wells
Karez Wells were created by the local people with their wit, dedication, blood and sweat crisscross the Turpan Depression like the vital and complicate blood vessel network. They created it out of necessity. Karaz irrigation system is vital to Turpan. It leads water to the most arid area and has created the vast oasis.
the Flaming Mountain
Flaming Mountain is at the north fringe of the Turpan Basin. It was called Red Rock Mountain for the dark red sandstone dominating the area. Many years of volcanic activity have formed the unique crisscrossing gullies and ravines. During mid-afternoon the heat becomes intense as the sun's rays are reflected off the red rocks, as though the hillsides are engulfed by tongues of fire, hence the name.
Heavenly Lake
In the middle of Bogda Peak, 110 km (68miles) east of Urumqi, nestles Heavenly Lake. Covering 4.9 square kilometers (1.89 square miles), this crescent-shaped lake deserves its name, Pearl of Heavenly Mountain (Tianshan Mountain). With melted snow as its source, Heavenly Lake enjoys crystal water.
Forbidden City – Beijing
Chinese imperial palace from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty. For almost five centuries, it served as the home of the Emperor and his household.
Great Wall of China
Travel to view one of the wonders of the world. Its construction began in the 5th century B.C. as a defense against of the Mongols.
Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses
At the mention of the great number of Xi’an attractions, terracotta soldiers always come as the first. The great archeological excavation of Qin (221BC-206BC) Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses unfolded a strong army of altogether 7,000 life-size pottery soldiers, horses, chariots and weapons arranged in battle formations symbolically, guarding the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang.
